Riba-Roja d`Ebre

Riba-Roja is a small village on the River Ebro situated about 7 km from Flix.  Like Flix it is very popular with fishermen. You can fish from the banks or hire a boat from various people such as Badia Tucana who are just beyond the Campsite.  This is a beautiful part of the river which, although is a few kilometres from the village itself, leads to what is known as the Riba-Roja lake. 

Coming back towards the village about 2 kms you will find the campsite.  This is a beautiful location right beside the river.  You can rent caravans or chalets or park your own campers, caravans etc.

The campsite also has its own restaurant where the food is good and it is a good place to meet new friends and lots of fishermen.  It is very popular with the Catalan people who go there weekends.  At Easter it is always full.  On a good evening you may even persuade Oscar the owner to serenade you with his guitar. He did this once to a friend of ours only to find that she had gone to sleep without hearing anything. He was not very impressed!

During the long hot summer school holidays the local swimming pools are open to the public.  There are two brand new pools.  One for small children and one for adults.  You can buy a day ticket for only a few euros or a season ticket.  There is always a lifeguard on duty to watch over swimmers.  When you have exhausted yourself swimming you can relax on the grass lawns under the trees or under the covered terrace. 

The fiestas in Riba-Roja start on 23 August and last 5 days.  There is always plenty of activity and attractions for everyone.  The last night culminates with a superb firework display at 23:00 hours and after that the `Devils` take over the village with their spectacular display where the climax is the mock burning down of the church.
